Good Health Hints

Hello, Shirley!

My name is Jianna Bustamante, and I am a physical therapist and personal trainer at Whole Health Solutions & Sports Performance, right here in Shirley. I’m very excited contribute articles to the Shirley Local newspaper and share practical, easy-to-follow health tips in each issue.

This week’s tip regards hydration. Everyone knows that they should be drinking more water, but— How much water do you need to drink?

A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, aim for about 75 ounces of water daily. That means about five 16-ounce bottles or tumblers. If you weigh more, you obviously need to drink more water. During the winter months, staying hydrated is especially important for maintaining overall health and energy.

Here’s to getting better every day.
